Small Checkerboard Shaker Cat’s Head Wall Basket

The Small Checkerboard Shaker Cat’s Head Wall Basket by Billie Ruth Sudduth is made to sit on its four feet or hang on a peg from the handle. Dyed with henna, madder, iron oxide and crushed walnut hull dye. The dye process takes two weeks – a week in the dye pot and a week in a salt, vinegar, and water solution to set the color.

The split oak handle is hand carved on a shave horse with a draw knife and is notched so the handle is securely attached to the basket.

All of my baskets are hand shaped without the use of a mold.

I have been a basket maker for 34 years and have made over 10,000 baskets. I have a log of everyone who has ever purchased my work and would love to add your name to the log.

Many of my baskets are in private collections and museum collections including the Smithsonian and the Museum of Art and Design. Go to my web site www.brsbasket.com to learn more about my baskets and the process.

The basket is signed, dated, numbered and shipped priority mail with tracking to most locations.

Approximately 7″ x 9.75″ x 7.75″
